This workshop is beginner-friendly, but we recommend that you have a little prior experience with basic crochet stitches (like chain and single crochet). If you’re brand new, check out our full beginners workshop first!
What you’ll learn:
How to turn old clothes into yarn
Basic to intermediate crochet techniques for bulky yarn
Tips for designing your own upcycled bag or accessory
What to bring:
1–2 old T-shirts or other garments (preferably stretchy fabric — we’ll show you what works!)
All other materials and tools are provided.
FAQ
Q: “Can I join if I’ve only crocheted a little?”
A: Yes! This workshop is beginner-friendly — all you need is basic knowledge of crochet stitches. I’ll guide you through everything step-by-step.
Q: “Can I upcycle anything other than t-shirts?”
A: Yes! Stretchy fabrics like jersey (from leggings, tank tops, long sleeves etc.) are ideal. Non-stretchy fabrics can work too — just keep in mind they might fray a bit at the edges. Denim’s also an option if you're up for the challenge!
